Detailed 5-Day Uganda Rwanda Gorilla Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
A half day city tour of Kigali starting in the morning with a pick up from your hotel.
Drive to Volcanoes national park after the city tour arriving at your safari lodge in time for lunch.
Have your lunch and then drive to the Gorilla Guardians village for a guided cultural visit.
Day 2: Volcanoes National Park – Gorilla Trekking
There are over 10 habituated families of mountain gorillas in Volcanoes national park, after your briefing session at the Kinigi park offices, you will be assigned to one of the families and your head ranger guide will lead the way as you track down the gorillas of the Volcanoes.
In 2-6 or more hours, you will find the gorilla family, spend an hour with then and then return from the trek back to your safari lodge for lunch.
Depending on the time you finish the trek, you can opt to engage in another activity or spend the rest of the day at leisure reminiscing about your encounter with the gorillas.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Uganda
Embark on a scenic drive after your breakfast towards the Rwanda-Uganda border, complete the necessary formalities and then continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable national park, home of the endangered mountain gorillas in Uganda.
Check in at the safari lodge and relax.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking and Batwa Community visit
Trekking the impenetrable forest of Bwindi in search of the mountain gorillas is a rewarding experience from the first step.
Together with other visitors, you will enter the dense forest and in 2-7 hours you will be able to see the mountain gorillas, enjoy the encounter and return from the forest back to your safari lodge for lunch.
Visit the Batwa community for a guided cultural tour and some entertainment.
Day 5: End of the 5-day gorilla safari
Early morning rise to embark on your journey back to Rwanda for a drop-off at the airport to catch your flight.
