Mount Sabyinyo – Mount Sabyinyo is the oldest volcano in the Virunga Mountains, a mountain range in the Albertine Rift Mountains.
It is an extinct volcano with five peaks that give it its name, “The Old Man’s Teeth,” which is quite hard to get to.
Mount Sabyinyo lies on the borders of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda, and Uganda.
The mountain features steep ridge lines, with and without wooden ladders to reach the peak, bamboo forests, Hagenia, Hypericum forests, and trees covered in Old Man’s Moss before reaching the sub-alpine zone.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit is during the dry season, in the months of June to July and December to February.
