Day 1: Kigali – Mount Karisimbi (Volcanoes National Park)
Transfer from Kigali city as early as possible to make it to the park’s head offices in time for the briefing and final preparations for your 2-day Karisimbi hike (Consider planning your hike during the best time to visit.)
You will be assigned an experienced hike support crew who will help you navigate your way up to the top of Mt. Karisimbi.
Today’s hike will take 6-7 hours depending on the group’s fitness level and speed and you will make camp at 3,700 meters for the night.
Expect stunning views as you climb higher. Nyamuragira volcano and Nyiragongo volcano will be in sight, beautiful birds and with some luck, you might come across gorillas or other primates.
Day 2: Summit Day – Back to Kigali
Early ride, breakfast and continue your trek to the summit of Mt. Karisimbi at 4,507 meters.
Watch the beautiful sunrise while at the top and see the Volcanoes light up.
Lush scenic views of ever green forests, cultivated volcano slopes and rolling hills. Take pictures to freeze the moment.
Take your descent back to the foothills of Karisimbi, meet your hike tour driver and drive back to Kigali.
