Rwanda Entry Requirements – Rwanda is located in East Africa and is one of the most visited countries on the continent.
Just like any other country in the world, different documents are required at the borders of Rwanda, such as Cyanika and Katuna borders in Uganda, Cyagungu, and Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and at Kigali International Airport.
The requested entry requirements are to ensure security and maintain the health of the people of Rwanda and those entering Rwanda from other countries.
The following are the entry requirements for Rwanda:
- Valid Passport: All travelers visiting Rwanda require a passport that will show their true nationality, age, and name. This passport should be valid for at least 6 months before the expiry date at the time of arrival in Rwanda and have a photo matching your face.
- Rwanda Visa or East African Visa: All travelers whose countries require a visa must apply for one at least 6 weeks before their arrival date in Rwanda, while for some, it can be obtained upon arrival. Apply for a visa depending on what you plan to do in Rwanda. Note: People who plan to stay in Rwanda for an extended period are not eligible for the East African Visa.
- Yellow Fever Vaccination Card: Travelers are required to carry a yellow card as proof of yellow fever vaccination. Vaccination should be done 10 days before arrival in Rwanda.

- Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
- Golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park
- Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest National Park
- Kigali city tour where you can visit the genocide memorial center, the local markets, etc.
- Tour to Akagera National Park where you can engage in game drives, boat cruises, etc.
- Exploring cultures at Iby’Iwacu Cultural Center (Now called Gorilla Guardians Village)
