Igisha Gorilla Family – The Igisha Gorilla family is found in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.

It is led by the dominant silverback, Igisha, which split from the original Susa group on the 30th of November 2014, separating with 23 individuals to form the new group later named after him.

The Igisha Gorilla family is comprised of over 36 habituated individuals, making it the largest mountain gorilla group in the volcanoes.

The individuals are broken down into 6 silverbacks, 10 adult females, 2 blackbacks, 1 sub-adult male, 1 sub-adult female, 6 juveniles, and 10 infants.

The Igisha Gorilla family is protected and conserved by the International Gorilla Conservation Programme (IGCP), which operates in the three countries: Uganda, DRC, and Rwanda.
