Gorilla Reproduction - Life Cycle and Mating Habits

Amahoro Gorilla Family – The Amahoro Gorilla Family inhabits the slopes of Mount Bisoke. The name “Amahoro” comes from a Kinyarwanda word meaning peace, reflecting their very peaceful nature.

The Amahoro Gorilla Family is led by a silverback called “Ubumwe,” meaning togetherness.

Ubumwe’s characteristics depict great humility, which has sometimes caused him to lose members to other groups, especially when other silverbacks challenge him.

Despite this, the peaceful nature of the Amahoro Gorilla Family has kept the family together and made them a model family for peace and unity.

The family comprises 17 individuals, including 1 silverback, 2 blackbacks, 5 juvenile gorillas, 5 adult females, and 4 young gorillas.

The total number of the group is dynamic, depending on migrations, births, and deaths.

Over the years, the Amahoro Gorilla Family has attracted many humble, peaceful, and nature-loving people from across the world, leaving a lasting impression about the Amahoro family.
