Discover the Susa Gorilla Family in Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park

Susa Gorilla Family – The Susa Gorilla Family is based at River Susa, from which it derives its name. It is one of the most popular groups for conservation studies of mountain gorillas.

This is because Dian Fossey used this particular group for her research while at the Karisoke Research Centre in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda, before her murder in 1985.

The Susa Gorilla Family initially had the highest number of individuals, totaling about 42 members.

However, due to the dynamic nature of gorillas, fights and separations have reduced their current total to twenty-eight members, including three silverbacks and their famous twins, Impano and Byishimo.

This makes the Susa Gorilla group one of the luckiest families to have twins.
