Kwisanga Gorilla Family – The Kwisanga Gorilla Family is a splitter group originally from Kwitonda. It was formed on May 4, 2021, and is made up of 17 individuals, including 2 silverback gorillas, 3 adult females, 2 blackbacks, 2 sub-adult males, and 5 infants.
The Kwisanga family is led by the dominant silverback gorilla named Kigoma, who left the Kwitonda gorilla family group.
Since the formation of the Kwisanga and Kwitonda families, the two groups have met several times without any aggressive interactions.
This friendly behavior allows the two families to meet and socialize. The name “Kwisanga” was given by Sauti Sol, a Kenyan music band, at Kwita Izina in 2022. The Kwisanga Gorilla Family is well habituated and ready for tourism.

Gorilla trekking can be done at any time of the year, but the best time is during the dry season, from June to September and December to February.
