Detailed 4-Day Uganda Gorilla Trek & Lake Bunyonyi Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Uganda
Pick up from your hotel in Kigali or the airport and drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park across the border in Uganda.
While on this approximately 6-hour driver, you will have stopovers along the way including one at the scenic twin lakes, Ruhondo and Burera and at the border to complete the necessarily formalities and then enter into Uganda where you will be welcomed by scenic views of 3 of the Virunga volcanoes; Muhavura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo.
Reach your safari lodge in the evening, check in for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest
Have an early breakfast and then you will be driven to the park’s headquarters for briefing and grouping into teams of 8 people before entering the impenetrable forest to trek the great apes.
In about 4-8 hours or less, you will encounter the mountain gorillas and spend a full 1 hour in their midst taking pictures, watching them and learning more about them from your ranger guides.
Return to the briefing point at the park offices, drive to your lodge for lunch, check out and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi check in at the safari lodge for the night.
Day 3: Explore Lake Bunyonyi
Lake Bunyonyi is a still beautiful island dotted lake with stunning scenic views considered the deepest lake in Uganda and 2nd deepest on the African continent.
It is a beautiful place for relaxation after the gorilla trekking experience and also for adventure with available tourist activities to engage in.
You will go on a canoe ride on the beautiful lake, visit some of the islands as you enjoy a rewarding birding safari as this lake has a variety of water bird species. Enjoy sun-downers and relaxed evenings.
Day 4: End of Tour
After your breakfast, you will embark on your return journey to Kigali, have a short tour around the city and then you will be dropped at the airport for your flight back home.
